NCMP Night Race Recap

A night race already asks a lot from drivers. Add rain during the prefinals, 371 total entries, and a packed senior field, and the margin for error gets razor thin.

Cadet and Red results showed early strength

In 206 Cadet, Jackson McNeely came away with a strong 4th-place finish. Against a competitive group, that result showed both speed and race control. Cadet racing can get hectic in clean conditions, and a rain-touched prefinal only adds another layer.

Diesel Maxwell also put together a solid run in 206 Red, finishing 5th. That top-five result gave the team another strong mark on the night. In a race setting where the track was changing and fields were full, a 5th-place finish is the kind of result that reflects smart driving, not just pace.

The early classes set the tone. McNeely and Maxwell both kept themselves in the fight and brought home finishes worth building on.

Andrew Avalos led the way in KA Junior

Andrew Avalos delivered one of the cleanest headline results of the event with a 1st-place finish in KA Junior. Any win at a race with this much depth matters, but doing it on a night with mixed weather and heavy entry counts makes it even stronger.

KA Junior rewards precision. Drivers need speed, but they also need to manage momentum and avoid getting trapped in battles that slow the race down. Avalos handled the challenge and came out on top.

His night did not stop there. In Junior 206 1, Parker Dunn finished 8th, with Avalos right behind in 9th. That gave both drivers valuable laps in a competitive pack and kept them inside the top 10.

Then Avalos and Parker Dunn both stepped into 206 Junior 2, adding more seat time and another challenge to the night. Avalos finished 6th, while Parker Dunn came home 15th.

Senior classes brought the biggest battles

The senior divisions brought some of the toughest racing of the night. Maxson Klebe ran in 206 Senior Sportsman and finished 41st. It was a hard result on paper, but the context matters. Big-field racing at NCMP can be unforgiving, and when rain mixes into the event, track position becomes even harder to recover.

The biggest show came in 206 Senior, where Brayden Johnson finished 2nd in a stacked field of 57 entries. That drive stood out as one of the top performances from the whole team.

Adam Maxwell had been in the fight as well, but contact changed his night. He was crashed with a few laps to go and finished 33rd. It was a tough break, especially late in the race when there is little time to recover.

Maxson Klebe followed in 47th in 206 Senior, closing out a demanding night in one of the deepest groups on the schedule.

The results show the range of the night. There were wins, podium-level speed, top-five finishes, top-10 runs, and a few tough breaks. That is often how a large night race plays out. The scoreboard tells the result, but it does not always show the work it took to get there.
